For years, I’ve wanted viable newsletters to accompany my many WordPress blogs. I love the idea of having someone read one or more of my posts and fall in love with them to such a degree that they search for a method that would allow them to read via email. Or to be alerted to my news posts via email. Or to receive anything at all from me via email. I’ve actually set up newsletters through plugins and Mailchimp in the past, but as time has worn on, I’ve become disenchanted with how it all worked. I never really liked how the plugins operated and I’ll never forget the day I received a notification from Mailchimp that not everyone on my newsletter subscriber list had received the newsletter email. Apparently, I ran over the free number of 500. What a bummer. Imagine being notified that due to your success, you now have to begin paying to have emails sent out. Substack is set up to deliver a massive number of emails for absolutely no cost. It’s a newsletter website. Authors write and Substack mails that writing out to subscribers. When I first heard of this, I was blown away. I began thinking of ways I could use both WordPress and Substack together. And one day, I figured it all out. In today’s post, I share my discoveries and I let you peek behind the curtain of how I now operate my blogs and newsletters. It’s outstanding, if I don’t say so myself and I encourage you to follow my lead – of course, if you’re interested in this sort of thing. Click through to learn all about it. Continue reading…
12 Ways to Transition Your Blog From Beginner to Advanced
Unbeknownst to many a beginner blogger, blogs evolve. So many of the most popular blogs we see on the internet today oftentimes began as whimsical hobbies or very amateur business ventures. The earliest posts displayed on these popular blogs were absolutely horrific. They were short, didn’t include any sort of heading structure, didn’t include proper keywords, and didn’t include any type of introductory paragraph. Needless to say, they were lackluster at best, a waste of time at worst. The good news is, the owners of these blogs stuck with it and, through the years, learned how to properly blog. Today, their posts are well researched, well structured, well written, and well promoted. What happened? The bloggers in question transitioned from beginner bloggers into advanced bloggers and their hard work paid off. In today’s post, I discuss the process of what I just discussed above and I lay out a blueprint that can help that transition occur. I discuss blogging niches, why writing schedules are critical, how a blogger can take advantage of their competition, why social media matters, the benefits of launching a newsletter, and so much more. So if you’re about a year into blogging and you’d like to know which steps you need to take to move your beginner blogging along to the level of advanced, click through to learn all about it. How to Add the Current Month & Year to WordPress Posts
If you’ve searched anything via Google or Bing in the past few years, you’ve surely noticed how blog post authors have begun adding numbers and dates to their post titles. For instance, titles like, “Great WordPress Themes” have morphed into titles like, “15 of the Best WordPress Themes Available.” And titles like, “Best WordPress Plugins” have morphed into titles like, “The Best WordPress Plugins in 2024.” Notice how the latter titles have numbers attached to them. These numbers add specificity and whether we like to think so or not, people love specificity. Authors wouldn’t be going through the trouble of adding them if they didn’t increase clicks to their websites. In today’s post, I teach how top-level WordPress authors set their blogs up to accept short code that can assist with adding dynamic dates. Whether it be a month, year, or current date, I teach how to add them to blog posts and pages. And the good news is it’s so, so easy. So if you’re interested in adding dynamic dates (dates that update automatically) to your blog posts, click through to learn how to do it today. Thanks! Continue reading…
